Staten Island Borough President Candidate Leticia Remauro Challenges Mayor de Blasio to One-on-One Debate Over Vaccine Mandates

Leticia Remauro, candidate for Staten Island Borough President is issuing a challenge to Mayor de Blasio for a one-on-one debate over his controversial “Key To NYC” executive order that mandates COVID-19 vaccines, vaccine passports, and unlawful regulations for business owners.

Mayor de Blasio’s executive order which was issued in August, mandates that owners of indoor fitness facilities, indoor entertainment venues, and indoor dining establishments within New York City must require patrons to furnish their identification and a vaccine passport confirming COVID-19 vaccination in order to do business inside their facilities. The executive order also requires employers to terminate any employee who will not furnish proof of vaccination. There are no exceptions to this new rule, and unlike France and other countries requiring vaccine passports, those who have natural antibodies will still be required to have proof of vaccination in order to do business inside of these facilities.

“Mayor de Blasio’s dictatorial reign of terror on New Yorkers has resulted in rising murder rates, an education system in chaos and the worst homeless crisis we have ever seen. Now he wants to rule our health via fiat,” said Remauro.

“We need to follow the science and have an honest discussion about what are the best policies to fight COVID-19 transmission effectively. The Mayor is terrified of having that honest discussion because he’s following pseudo science. This debate will expose his failed policies once and for all,” added Remauro.

Leticia Remauro joined by a number of affected businesses and individuals has spearheaded a federal lawsuit against Mayor de Blasio’s vaccine mandate as well as filing a second lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court.

“Mayor de Blasio has done such a poor job making his case to New Yorkers that he is now instituting illegal means of coercion for a policy that will harm us,” said Remauro. “If Mayor de Blasio is truly convinced that he is right on the science and that he is justified in his sweeping executive orders, then he shouldn’t be afraid to debate me. But he won’t dare show up at a debate because, in reality, this mandate is basically virtue signaling that pits New Yorkers against one another.”
